News > Bata Industrials’ laboratory receives SATRA accreditation

Recently, Bata Industrials’ laboratory received the A-status certificate from the SATRA research and technology centre. The accreditation confirms the fact that Bata Industrials makes every effort to monitor the quality of its safety shoes and provide them with a maximum guarantee.

With the A-status certificate (the highest level of certification), Bata Industrials has achieved true pioneer status. Bata is actually the first manufacturer of safety shoes in Europe to receive this type of accreditation from SATRA.
The certification is the reward for the purchase of high-quality testing equipment, the training of laboratory personnel, and the creation of a conditioned environment within the laboratory. The constant temperature and humidity levels satisfy the norms for the performance of tests on complete safety shoes and the materials used in the shoes. This climate is even checked daily, and the readings are automatically stored in the system.

The result is an environment which is conducive to performing some thirty tests under the required conditions. Examples include tests for the wear-resistance of materials used for the soles, conducting fall tests (steel toecap), testing electronic resistance (anti-static and ESD shoes), testing the penetration resistance of steel and composite mid-soles, and testing the most important mechanical qualities of rubber and synthetic materials. All of these activities have been elevated to an even higher level thanks in part to the new equipment used for performing fall tests and testing wear-resistance. Laboratory Manager Frank Stoeldraaijers is also a believer: “As a prominent developer of safety and work-related shoes we provide the wearers of our products with the most suitable footwear that can guarantee safety on the work floor. In order to be able to provide this constant guarantee, we invest in innovation in every area. Our SATRA-accredited laboratory lends our philosophy and approach an important added value when it comes to quality control and product development. The close relationship between SATRA and Bata Industrials has led to fantastic results.”
