Once again, Bata Industrials proves this globally operating concern’s strength when it comes to technology. After the company introduced an advanced solution for foot problems with Bata-adapt, it has now taken another giant leap forward in the development of safety shoes. The sole construction has been vastly improved, the result of which is excellent energy absorption.

In accordance with the EN ISO 20344 standard, the seat region of a safety shoe must be able to absorb at least 20 joules of energy. For Bata Industrials, this is not quite high enough. The models from the collections The Natural and BS2000 are therefore equipped with an innovative sole construction which allows them to absorb shock. Official tests have shown that this new construction nearly doubles the energy absorption rate.

Result: fit and healthy
The sole technology consists of three elements: the patented Tunnelsystem, a shank and a special PU mid-sole. The combination of these ergonomic elements relieves the burden on the entire biomechanical system. These elements have even been proven to prevent symptoms and sometimes even afflictions of the knees, hips and back. This means wearers become less tired and have a lower loss of concentration, and fewer absences due to illness. Wearers who are therefore fit and healthy longer!


Element 1: Tunnelsystem
The first element in this sole construction is the Tunnelsystem. This notch in the heel of the outsole deforms as the heel hits the ground and spreads the pressure over a larger surface area, in spite of the weight. This results in perfect shock absorption during unexpected wrong steps. In fact, the system offsets three to four times the wearer’s body weight.

Element 2: Shank
Various studies have shown that the new shank is extremely effective. Not only does it protect the wearer from sprains, it also absorbs shock when the wearer’s foot hits the ground. The shank is produced from durable materials that permanently absorb shocks from hard surfaces, sparing the hips, knees and back. The mid-foot support ensures the proper and optimum biomechanical movement of the foot.

Element 3: Polyurethane mid-sole
The latest element in the Bata sole technology is the polyurethane mid-sole, with which all our shoes come equipped. This flexible mid-sole ensures having absorbing and damping qualities as the foot hits the ground, even under the front of the foot.
