During the Internationale BouwBeurs held from the 7th to the 12th of February 2011 at the Jaarbeurs exhibition centre in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Bata Industrials was one of the approximately 1000 exhibitors. The theme of this year’s exhibition was: Together we build. This is a theme Bata Industrials believes in wholeheartedly. In times like these, it is absolutely necessary to work together to arrive at the best solution. Although the construction sector has been hit hard by the economic crisis, there is still light at the end of the tunnel. Sitting idle and doing nothing is not an option. Once the economy picks up again, it will be crucial for companies to be ready. Construction & Safety New health and safety regulations, corporate social responsibility and stricter European norms have ensured that the construction and safety world is in a constant state of motion, in spite of the economic crisis. Bata Industrials presented several innovative techniques at the Bouwbeurs, such as the new Walkline concept that makes it possible to make protective shoes even safer and more comfortable for people working in the construction sector. To guarantee safety at the building site, Bata Industrials offers safety shoes with protective toecaps and mid-soles. When they wear the right shoe combined with the right sock and inlay sole, employees will tire less easily and thus remain fit longer. And this reduces the chance of accidents on the work floor. At stand B114 (hall 12), Bata presented a broad range of safety shoes suitable for the construction sector. This range also included several specials, such as the models with Gore-Tex membrane for humid, wet working conditions, or the bestsellers with the Boa lacing system. Bickz for the one-man businessman At the Bouwbeurs, Bata Industrials also introduced Bickz, a new type of safety shoe for the market consisting of people running a one-man business. Just like every good safety shoe should, Bickz also has a protective toecap. Rather than steel, this cap is made from a non-steel material. The impenetrable mid-sole is also made from this material. Just like steel, this is a material that satisfies all of the safety norms, yet only weighs about half as much.
